The city of Atlanta has said if the team leaves, it will demolish its stadium, which was originally built for the 1996 Olympics. That decision isn’t surprising in a city that some argue loves to tear down its own history.

If Mercer University's new football team wins their homecoming game in Macon Saturday they will be the winningest first-year program in Division I history. Mercer’s first team in 72 years wasn’t expected to go 9-2 in their debut season. Their mostly-freshmen roster was picked to finish 11th in the Pioneer Football League, yet they came close to winning the conference title.
