Police say a girl who accidentally shot herself in the leg at a midtown Atlanta high school has been taken to the Fulton County Jail. Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos says the 17-year-old Grady High School student is charged with reckless conduct, possession of a pistol by a minor, disruption of a public school and carrying weapons within a school safety zone.
Gilmer County authorities are searching for a man for questioning in a Sunday shooting outside the north Georgia city of Ellijay that left two men and a woman injured. Gilmer County Sheriff Stacy Nicholson said the incident occurred at a residence after an argument started between acquaintances.
For years little attention was paid to the 2005 death of Brian Epp and the murder conviction of the man accused of killing him, John McNeil. Protests are now growing by those who believe the case was handled differently from similar cases because McNeil is black and Epp was white.
