A worker at Cumberland Island National Seashore has discovered the remains of what could be a Confederate warship. The islands off Georgia’s historic coast are no stranger to shipwrecks. But this particular vessel has captured the attention of residents more than most.
Park rangers on a remote barrier island off the Georgia coast say they have found a historical treasure — an 80-foot fragment of an old shipwreck nearly buried beneath the sand. Archaeologists from the National Park Service uncovered the wreckage last week.
