    State Adds Saltwater Fishing Permit
    Beginning in January anyone who wants to fish in salt water in Georgia will need to get an additional free permit. The permit is part of an effort by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to collect timely and accurate data from saltwater anglers for use in resource management.

    DNR Board Takes Over Saltwater Fishing Rules
    The state Board of Natural Resources is set to take over regulation of saltwater fishing in Georgia. State lawmakers gave the board the authority to regulate saltwater fish the same way it does with freshwater species starting January 2013. Until now, the General Assembly has directly controlled rules about some saltwater species.
