On Saturday, rubber games of the first round of baseball the playoffs took place while boys soccer teams from around the state decided their quarterfinal matches. Several metro Atlanta teams were in the fold and many of them advanced in their respective playoff brackets.
Many of the favorites in girls soccer advanced into the semifinals Friday night with dominant performances. However, the game of the evening may have been Athens Academy's 1-0 win over Holy Innocents'.
State soccer tournaments are underway throughout Georgia, so playoff fever will be prevalent on the pitch over the next two weeks. Leading the charge is Collins Hill, which is looking to become the first boys team to win three consecutive state championships in the highest classification.
School officials in a Georgia county say they've launched an investigation to try and figure out how Masters Tournament badges that were supposed to go to local students instead were sold to ticket scalpers.
The Masters stopped taking applications for tournament badges back in 1971.
Only members of the Augusta National and those lucky enough to have made the cut more than 40 years ago could get their hands on them…until now.
