Education officials could deliberate privately about troubled Georgia school boards under a plan being considered in the General Assembly. Any testimony to the state board and its final vote on a recommendation would still happen in public. The board can recommend that the governor replace entire local school boards.

Federal officials are meeting to discuss mixed-oxide fuel at an old nuclear weapons site near Augusta. The meeting is one of several the Energy Department is holding around the country to discuss an environmental impact statement for the MOX facility at the Savannah River Site.

Georgia's attorney general has filed a lawsuit against a suburban Atlanta city and its mayor for alleged violations of the state's open meetings law. The law permits visual and sound recording during open meetings, but the suit claims Cumming’s mayor ordered a woman to stop taping a city council meeting in April.
