    The state Department of Corrections has agreed to give the Southern Center for Human Rights 1,000 pages of documents after the group sued during their probe into a northwest Georgia prison. The lawsuit had been dismissed and aside from providing the documents, the Georgia Department of Corrections has agreed to pay the organization's legal fees.

    A Georgia city is challenging the state's new sunshine laws in response to an open meetings lawsuit state Attorney General Sam Olens filed against its mayor. The Fulton County Daily Report reports that Olens' lawsuit is the first under Georgia's new Open Meetings and Open Records acts. The lawsuit states that Cumming Mayor Ford Gravitt and police barred Nydia Tisdale from videotaping an April 17 city council meeting.

    Georgia has filed its response to a lawsuit over hiring practices at Kia Motors' West Point car plant. In a court motion filed Wednesday, Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens says workers who applied for a job at Kia had a privilege, not a right, to view records about how the state screened applicants for the plant.
