Georgia Gwinnett College says the state Board of Nursing has signed off on its baccalaureate program in nursing. The four-year college in Lawrenceville had previously received approval of the bachelor's degree nursing program from the Board of Regents and plans to begin accepting students into the program in the fall of 2014.
Georgia College & State University plans to begin offering its first doctoral degree program in May. The school in Milledgeville on Wednesday announced that the doctor of nursing program will admit up to 12 nursing professionals.
Mercer University's nursing program has been given $430,000 in federal grants to do more nursing training and help increase the number of nursing faculty. The private Georgia college received a $413,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for a loan program aimed at helping registered nurses get a graduate education so they can teach.
