Flying out of Middle Georgia Regional Airport could soon become a practical option for a lot more travelers, as several airlines show interest in breathing new life into the chronically under-used airport.
A Florida-based airline is delaying its plan to begin flying travelers between Middle Georgia and Atlanta. The reasons behind the delay are not yet clear. In the meantime, GeorgiaSkies will continue flying passengers between Macon and Atlanta until Dec. 22 or longer.
A group of central Georgians studying the future of Macon's airport recommends that it should concentrate on increasing technical jobs related to aviation. A new passenger carrier is scheduled to start daily flights from Macon to Atlanta on Dec. 1, but the planning group believes the central Georgia airport should not count on that continuing indefinitely.
