Advocates for endangered whales want officials to extend ship speed limits. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration started enforcing ship speed rules five-years-ago. And since then no whales have died from ship strikes.

Consultants who studied Savannah’s best locations for a possible cruise ship terminal say the Savannah River Landing would be the best choice. Cruise ship supporters point to the potential for jobs. But opponents say more tourism could destroy the historic city's character. Consultant Bruno Ramos says the city has a choice to make.

Georgia's chief Juvenile Justice investigator and 19 other employees are suspended today. Commissioner Avery Niles suspended the workers for not resolving some 20 claims of sexual abuse against detained children. A department spokesman says Niles is taking the allegations seriously.

Hundreds of people came to pay their respects to a jazz legend Monday. Mourners remembered bassist Ben Tucker at the late musician's funeral at Savannah's Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension. When it was over, people in the pews poured into the streets for a New Orleans-style procession.

A new brewery is capitalizing on Savannah's burgeoning interest in beer. Southbound Brewing is the latest business in a growing beer-centered culture in the coastal city. Carly Wiggins is opening the brewery with business partner Smith Mathews.
