State officials say metro Atlanta's unemployment rate has declined to 7.6 percent in April. Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday the number of jobs in metro Atlanta increased by about 13,000 last month. The rate was an improvement over the 7.9 percent posted in March and the 8.5 percent for April 2012.

State labor officials say Georgia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has dropped to 8.2 percent in April. That's down from 8.4 percent in March, and 9.1 percent a year ago. Georgia employers created more than 31,000 jobs in April.

State labor officials say metro Atlanta's unemployment rate dropped to 7.9 percent in March. That is down four-tenths of a percentage point from 8.3 percent in February. The Georgia Department of Labor announced the new rate early Thursday morning.

Georgia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 8.4 percent in March, the lowest rate since December 2008. That is down from 8.6 percent in February, and 9.1 percent in March a year ago.

Georgia's seasonally adjusted jobless rate for February was the lowest since January 2009, down to 8.6 percent from 8.7 percent in January. The Georgia Department of Labor announced the February numbers early Thursday.
