One Georgia lawmaker believes the state is missing out on millions of dollars in potential tax revenue this Independence Day. Senator Jeff Mullis, R–Chickamauga, proposed legislation this year that would legalize the sale of fireworks in Georgia. The bill did not make it past the Senate, but Mullis said he plans to pick the issue up again during the 2014 session.
The Governor's Office of Highway Safety has given the Georgia Department of Public Health $817,500. The projects are meant to offer technical assistance and resources to partner agencies statewide, develop community support for vehicle safety programs, and help evaluate program efforts.
