National Weather Service forecasters in Peachtree City say light snow in north Georgia is expected to subside Wednesday night, but extremely low wind chills, flurries and ice are foreseen for the weekend.
The main winter storm has now pushed out of Georgia, leaving a parting gift of two more inches of snow Wednesday night from Macon north. Winter storm warnings will remain in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday because of the chance for more light snow wrapping around the back end of the system.
The state Department of Transportation is investing more than 2 million dollars in storm preparation. The money is going toward buying and updating snow and ice removal equipment, computerized maps, and mobile devices for snow equipment operators.
