Two Georgia Republican members of Congress want to help struggling homeowners make their mortgage payments. It's a push to allow penalty-free withdrawls from retirement savings. Senator Johnny Isakson and north Georgia congressman Tom Graves are co-sponsoring a bill to allow homeowners to tap their 401-K accounts.

Georgia will receive $127 million from the federal government to aid jobless homeowners. The Obama administration announced Wednesday that it will send $2 billion to the states with the worst job markets. Georgia is one of 17 eligible states whose unemployment rates have topped the national average for a year.

Flood insurance is once again available to Georgia homeowners. President Barack Obama has signed an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program. NFIP lapsed on May 31st, but Congress voted to make the extended coverage retroactive to avoid coverage gaps.
