State transportation officials are planning new toll lanes on an interstate south of Atlanta, in Clayton and Henry counties. Georgia Department of Transportation officials outlined the plans during a public meeting Tuesday in McDonough.

Southern Crescent Technical College is scheduled to break ground Thursday on the first building of a proposed eight-building campus in McDonough. The Henry County Board of Commissioners has voted unanimously to acquire Tara Field, the airport next to Atlanta Motor Speedway. The purchase price of $17.7 million covers 326 acres of airport property, including a hangar, along with 217 acres of land owned by the Clayton County Water Authority.

A major apparel company is set to bring more jobs to Georgia. State economic development officials say Phillips-Van Heusen will expand its operations to Henry County, an hour north of Macon.
