In Afghanistan, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade soldiers held a memorial service Friday for the Black Hawk helicopter crew.

A new report from federal investigators indicates that two officers in an Atlanta police helicopter made no distress calls before the aircraft collided with wires atop a 42-foot power pole. The preliminary report released late Tuesday by the National Transportation Safety Board sheds little light on what might have caused the chopper to crash.

Officials say the Atlanta police helicopter that crashed over the weekend and killed two officers on board had been completely refurbished in recent years.Mayor Kasim Reed said at a news conference Monday the helicopter had been upgraded in 2004 and 2005.

Federal investigators say an Atlanta police helicopter hit the top of power line pole and its support cables before it crashed on a busy city street, killing two officers on board. They hope to have a preliminary report on the crash later this week.
