Florida Sues Georgia Over Water
Florida Governor Rick Scott announced Tuesday his state has filed suit against Georgia in the U. S. Supreme Court over water consumption. “Georgia has refused to fairly share the waters that flow between our two states, so to stop Georgia’s unmitigated consumption of water we have brought the matter before the U.S. Supreme Court. Georgia’s over-consumption of water threatens the existence of Apalachicola Bay and the future economic development of the region,” Scott said in a written news release.

Georgia: Only 4 ObamaCare “Navigators”
Georgia’s federally-run online health exchange is scheduled to open at 12:01 Tuesday morning, but the state’s 2 million uninsured might need to wait for enrollment assistance. According to Gary Allen, a media relations representative for Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens, only four “healthcare navigators” have been licensed in the state.

Georgia Near Bottom In New Health Ranking
A new report ranks Georgia 45th on how well the state’s health care system works for low-income families. For people with low incomes, Georgia ranked 46th in health care access and affordability, 47th in performance and treatment, 34th in potentially avoidable hospital use, and 35th in healthy lives, according to the report.

Health Marketplace Two Weeks Away
Online healthcare insurance exchanges will open in less than two weeks, but some local organizations are still working to prepare their “healthcare navigators.” Those navigators will be trained specialists who can guide consumers through the online insurance marketplace to buy coverage.

Border War Goes To Supreme Court
Attorneys for three different parties presented arguments to the Georgia Supreme Court about an ongoing border war Tuesday. Monroe County and Bibb County have been in legal limbo for several years over where their shared border lies. Secretary of State Brian Kemp appealed to the state Supreme Court after a lower court ordered him to accept a new county line between the two.
