It has been exactly two weeks since a grand jury handed down a federal indictment against State Representative Tyrone Brooks, D-Atlanta. But Gov. Nathan Deal’s office has not received a certified copy of the indictment. Deal can’t appoint a commission to review whether Brooks can remain in elected office until he receives the document.
A federal grand jury has indicted state Rep. Tyrone Brooks over allegations claiming he misappropriated more than $1 million in charitable funds. Brooks, a Democrat from Atlanta, was charged Thursday with 30 counts of mail fraud, wire fraud and false tax returns.
