The Georgia Historic Preservation Division says three buildings that make up the Forsyth Railroad Depots and Baggage Room have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. They include a passenger and freight depot built around 1850, a second passenger depot dating to 1899 and a separate baggage room constructed in 1917.
The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, a nonprofit formed to help save the state's historic treasures, says Percell and Veronica Kelley recently bought a Victorian railroad cottage known as the Miller House. It’s the third historic home needing restoration work they’ve bought in the city of Fosyth over the past three years.
Monroe County is suing Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp in a bid to have a judge overturn Kemp's ruling in its border dispute with neighboring Bibb County. The suit was filed Friday in Fulton Superior Court. Bibb County commissioners are expected to vote to fight the case at their meeting Tuesday.
