Rainfall from the weather system formerly known as tropical storm Ida was slowly subsiding across the state Wednesday morning. National Weather Service radar as of 7:30 a.m. showed only pockets of rain falling in north Georgia.

More rain expected this evening and this weekend has all of north Georgia including metro Atlanta and Athens under a flash flood watch effective 4 p.m. today until early Sunday morning.

Heavy rain will be a concern for much of Georgia through Saturday. Forecasters have placed wide areas of the state under a flood watch until tomorrow morning. It includes all of the metro Atlanta area, extending south to Vidalia and east to Athens.
