There’s a high cost to keeping cool, and Georgia Power customers have really felt the heat with bills that have doubled or even tripled this summer. This season’s usage peaked on Thursday at 17,014 megawatts. But that number is still far behind the all-time record of nearly 18,000 megawatts in August 2007.
