DeKalb County's school board has decided not to close the Fernbank Science Center. Closing the center would have saved nearly $5 million, but board members meeting Tuesday night decided to look elsewhere to fill a $73 million budget gap.
Hundreds of people have signed an online petition in hopes of keeping the Fernbank Science Center from closing. Members of the DeKalb County school board are recommending that the Fernbank Science Center and its planetarium be closed to help save money.
