Officials with the Atlanta area's public transit system are studying the idea of expanding the service further north into the metro area's sprawling northern suburbs. The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority will hold a public meeting about the concept on Sept. 26 at Alpharetta City Hall.
A police department in Atlanta's suburbs plans to use social media to tweet every emergency call it receives on Friday. Dunwoody police Officer Tim Fecht said the idea is to engage with the public and let residents know what police deal with on a daily basis.
In an important Region 2-AAAAA clash Brandon Addison preserved the victory for undefeated Stephenson on the game’s final play, as the Jaguars defeated East Coweta 24-17. With East Coweta inside the Stephenson 10-yard line, Addison sacked the Indians' quarterback.
The Region 6, Class 4A cross country meet was held Saturday at Marist High School. The top four teams from each division and the top 10 individual runners go on to the state meet, so a huge opportunity was at stake. John Ewing of Lakeside DeKalb edged out James Dwyer of Dunwoody and Matthew Weber of Marist with a time of 16:42 to win the varsity boys race. Marist, Lakeside-DeKalb, Dunwoody, and Southwest DeKalb all qualified in the boys division for the state meet.
