Authorities say at least 10 people and two dogs have been exposed to rabies after contact with a rabid cat in the Savannah area. Authorities in Chatham County say a rabid cat has bitten or scratched 9 people and two dogs. WTOC-TV Thursday reported the feral cat bit at least one person and scratched others before being reported to animal control on Nov. 28.

A judge in Effingham County has appointed a lawyer to represent a pit bull dog accused of attacking a 5-year-old boy. Superior Court Judge William E. Woodrum Jr. appointed Springfield attorney Claude M. Kicklighter to represent the dog, named Kno, "in the interest of justice."

A bulldog has been banned from a Georgia county for life after a child was bitten. Oreo can never return to Chatham County under an agreement approved by a judge. A Chatham County Superior Court Judge approved the consent agreement. It also calls for Oreo's new owner to have the American Bulldog neutered and placed with a rescue agency or animal shelter.
