Georgia voters may get a chance to decide whether certain cities can draw up their own school districts. A resolution by Representative Tom Taylor of Dunwoody calls for a constitutional amendment giving cities formed since 2005 the authority to create their own school districts. Seven cities have come into being in Georgia since 2005.
The Atlanta City Council is forming a task force to resolve issues leading to some city residents reaching dispatchers in DeKalb County when they call 911. The task force has 90 days to determine potential solutions.
DeKalb County officials say they should know by Thursday afternoon whether to rescind a boil water advisory in the Tucker area. County officials said a temporary fluctuation in water pressure left a portion of the county's water system below Georgia Environmental Protection Division regulations.

Police said Michael Brandon Hill held one or two staff members in the front office of McNair Discovery Learning Academy captive Tuesday for a time, making one of them call a local TV station. As officers swarmed the campus outside, he shot at them at least a half a dozen times with an assault rifle from inside the school and they returned fire.
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has announced he'll suspend indicted DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis. The announcement at the state Capitol during a press conference Tuesday afternoon came a day after a three-person panel voted unanimously to recommend suspension for Ellis.
