Three seniors at Central High School in Macon have each been awarded a $250,000 scholarship from the Gates Millennium Scholars program. The Gates Millennium Scholars program is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The state House passed a bill Tuesday that would overhaul Georgia's HOPE scholarship. It includes an amendment that requires a new minimum grade point average for students to keep the full HOPE scholarship while in college.
