University of Georgia President Michael Adams is leaving office after 16 years of service, clearing the way for President-elect Jere Morehead to officially begin in his new role. Morehead, who previously served as provost and vice president of academic affairs, is set to take office Monday.
Two committees have been formed as part of a national search for the next president of Middle Georgia State College. Currently, John Black is serving as interim president of the college with campuses in Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman and Warner Robins.
University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby has appointed Georgia Gwinnett College's vice president to serve as interim president. Current president Daniel Kauffman steps down from his post in June to serve as president of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.
Georgia's Open Records Act requires a 14-day waiting period between when state agencies and local governments name finalists and vote on an official hire, to give the public an opportunity to learn about the finalists and voice concerns. Under a new rule approved by the Legislature, the Board of Regents must give the public only five days' notice.
