Georgia State is moving up to the NCAA’s Football Bowl Subdivision and will join the Sun Belt Conference for the 2013 season. The official invitation was extended to the school by Sun Belt Conference president and Troy University chancellor Jack Hawkins Monday.
Georgia's signing day is off to good start with linebacker Josh Harvey-Clemons announcing he will stay in the state to play for the Bulldogs. He played at Lowndes High School and chose the Bulldogs over Florida State and Florida, making his announcement in a nationally televised news conference.
Week 7 in the Southern Conference saw a slew of high-scoring contests including the top-ranked Georgia Southern Eagles crushing Furman 50-20 at Paulson Stadium. Five different players rushed for touchdowns to go along with 361 total rushing yards for the Eagles.
