Georgia Southern University officials say the school is using a $385,000 grant to study the impact of concussions on football players. University President Brooks Keel said Thursday that the school was the recipient of a grant from the National Institutes of Health and is using technology called the Helmet Impact Telemetry System.

There were some new faces at Tuesday's Pigskin Preview at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in Macon. The annual gathering of head college football coaches from across Georgia has grown with the addition of three new programs in recent years.

The Kennesaw State University Athletic department has launched a website to provide details on its new football program. Among other things, the site features fan gear, a recruitment page and a seating plan for Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

It’s a return trip to El Paso and the Sun Bowl for the Georgia Tech football team Monday afternoon after an uneven season. The Yellow Jackets have lost their last two games: the conference championship and the annual in-state rivalry match against Georgia. Now they turn their attention to the University of Southern California.
