Leaders of a newly-created city are working with DeKalb County officials to determine how much they should pay for certain county services. Leaders of Brookhaven — which incorporated in December — say $500,000 should be enough to pay the county for police and park maintenance service for about six months, much less than an initial agreement between the two governments.
Once again Savannah is being recognized as one of America's most "playful" cities for its abundance of parks and playgrounds. Savannah has been designated a Playful City USA for the fourth straight year by the Humana Foundation.
Atlanta officials are set to consider banning smoking in city parks. City Councilwoman Joyce Sheperd, a co-sponsor of the legislation, said seeing adults smoking near kids at a park and widespread smoking during a festival in Piedmont Park convinced her it’s a good idea.
