Georgia’s Technical College System Commissioner Ron Jackson said leaders at the state’s technical schools are anxious about how automatic federal budget cuts could impact TCSG the same day Governor Nathan Deal signed a bill to help them.
A day after the General Assembly adjourned for the session, water watchdogs are celebrating the failure of a bill that could have barred property owners from irrigating on their own land. The bill would have given the state the power to implement water augmentation program to increase the flow of the river, but would block those down river from the project from accessing the water.
A bill that would help protect consumers against forgeries or so-called robo-signing by mortgage companies is headed to Governor Nathan Deal’s desk. Both chambers of the state legislature passed the bill. Until now, prosecutors couldn’t mortgage companies for falsifying foreclosure documents.
The state House passed a bill Tuesday that would overhaul Georgia's HOPE scholarship. It includes an amendment that requires a new minimum grade point average for students to keep the full HOPE scholarship while in college.
