Savannah is re-writing its alcoholic beverage ordinances. The city already has some of the most liberal liquor laws in the nation. But the rules don't address some more novel uses alcohol. Beekeeper Ted Dennard wants to stock his stores with mead, the ancient honey-made drink, and offer people samples.
Savannah and Chatham County officials soon could loosen restrictions on backyard chickens and bees. Local and organic food advocates say, the proposal would clear up confusion about what's legal and put healthier and beter tasting eggs and honey in local diets.
