Economic recovery is coming slowly for rural South Georgia. Many local governments there have made deep cuts in staff and services. And those communities say they're taking another hit...from tax cuts passed by state lawmakers two years ago.
It’s almost July 4th. In Atlanta, before the cookouts and the fireworks, thousands of Atlantans will get up at the crack of dawn to run the annual AJC Peachtree Road Race. The 6.2 mile race starts in Buckhead near Lenox Square mall and ends at Piedmont Park. While all of the racers will strap on their running shoes and race bibs, quite a few runners will be decked out in full costumes.
An outgoing member of Georgia's Department of Natural Resources board is taking aim at Governor Nathan Deal. Deal chose not to re-appoint Newnan insurance agent Warren Budd to another term on the board overseeing environmental protection. Budd says, insiders told him it's because he's in synch with environmental groups on some issues.
