Deep budget cuts in Washington mean military flight teams will likely be no-shows at air shows across the U.S. starting this spring, leaving dozens of host cities bracing for thinner crowds and lost tourism dollars. The flight teams are scheduled for at least two Georgia air shows in the coming months.

Next year's Wings Over North Georgia Air Show in Rome will feature an elite group of U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. This will be the first time the group of F-16 jets will fly over the event.

This year's Great Georgia Airshow, an annual fall event in Peachtree City, has been canceled, but organizers vow it will return in 2013. The annual event in October typically draws a crowd of about 25,000 spectators during its three-day run.
