A new state audit says county coroners across Georgia aren't reporting suicides and all suspicious deaths to the State Medical Examiner's Office as required by law. Officials acknowledge such cases may not be reported as required, but they have not taken action to address the issue.

County sheriffs across Georgia are awaiting results of an ongoing study aimed at determining how to better care for mentally ill people who are accused of crime.

Governor Nathan Deal announced a statewide crackdown on Internet gambling Thursday. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation estimated there are 50 to 100 gambling businesses in the state disguised as Internet cafes. Deal has directed the GBI and district attorneys to go after the cafes.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating 2 prisons in Tattnall and Macon Counties for possible abuse by guards. GBI Spokesman John Bankhead says the head of the Department of Corrections made the request to the GBI Chief.
