Water is being taken from wells and piped in Spring Creek. Wildlife officials hope their efforts will help preserve endangered mussels. Creek in Miller County is home to 14 species.

Federal government is undertaking a one year study of the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. Snake's population is declining due to habitat loss and rattlesnake round-ups. Just one round-up remains in Georgia.

The Gopher Tortoise is a candidate for the endangered species list. Budget problems will keep it from being formally listed for now. Decision will not effect land owners.
