    Georgia Democrat John Barrow survived a Republican challenge Tuesday to his East Georgia congressional seat. Barrow of Augusta defeated Grovetown State Representative Lee Anderson 53% to 46% according to unofficial results. Anderson's GOP was counting on recently redrawn district lines to carry him to victory.

    A spokesman for US Congressman John Barrow says, the Democrat is endorsing the "top of his party's ticket" for President. Avoiding the name Barack Obama, the tepid endorsement comes as Republicans try to oust the four-term incumbent by tying him in television ads to the Democratic administration. That might be a tough job since Barrow actually opposes Obama on critical issues.

    A Georgia Republican Congressional candidate is defending his votes for and contributions to Democrats. Augusta retired Navy officer Wright McLeod is running in the GOP primary in Georgia's 12th Congressional District. McLeod says, he voted for Democrat Bill Richardson in the 2008 presidential race to stop Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton from gaining the nomination.
