A police department in Atlanta's suburbs plans to use social media to tweet every emergency call it receives on Friday. Dunwoody police Officer Tim Fecht said the idea is to engage with the public and let residents know what police deal with on a daily basis.

It’s fairly standard practice to submit a resume, a cover letter and several references when applying for a job. That could be changing, and actually has at some tech and marketing companies, where they are more interested in your Web presence than your resume.

GBI will use Facebook and Twitter to inform the public about missing children or seniors, and for fugitives at large. While the GBI will continue to use traditional broadcast alerts, now Levi’s Call, Georgia’s form of Amber Alerts, and other advisories will be available through new media.
