Another Friday is in the books, and we were immersed in high school football action. As always, there were a bunch of great individual and team efforts, and we’ve highlighted several of them in our weekly recaps.
As the top boys basketball teams in the state make their playoff pushes, teams from the metro area continue to dominate in the AJC’s weekly polls, especially in the larger classifications. Every No. 1 team (with the exception of Class A) is inside or within shouting distance of I-285.
If local fans of girls prep basketball were hungry last week, surely they enjoyed a few sweet pieces of upside-down cake. In just one week, three local girls teams fell from the top spot in the AJC’s rankings.
Brookwood's A.J. Sims, Peachtree Ridge's Angelo Watley and Duluth's Xavier Walker enter the 44 in this week's rankings of the state's top seniors. Tyler Hunter of Lowndes fell out of the 44 ue to injury as did Marquis Roberts of McEachern and South Gwinnett's Edward Muldrow. Kell's Brian Randolph and North Gwinnett's CJ Uzomah cemented their status in the 44 with outstanding performances.
