Savannah Technical College is serving one of the coastal area's largest employers with a new aviation training center. State and local officials were on hand this week to open a nearly $7 million classroom, hangar and lab facility. It will train graduates to work at jet manufacturer Gulfstream Aerospace.
Members of Savannah's City Council are making permanent a temporary choice they made last year about one of the city's most powerful positions. The council selected interim city manager Stephanie Cutter to run the city government permanently. Cutter has guided the city through a series of minor crises and garnered praise from business leaders.
Savannah economic development officials are focusing attention on 10 countries that they say have the biggest potential for increasing business with the coastal city. The non-profit World Trade Center in Savannah recently identified large trading partners such as Canada, the UK, Germany and Brazil as targets for growth.
