Eight northeast Georgia counties will soon have access to faster broadband connections than ever before. The final pieces of a 260-mile broadband ring from Atlanta north through the Georgia mountains will be in place by the end of the month.

The second round of the state high school basketball playoffs took place Tuesday on campuses around the state. For the most part, the favorites rolled. However, in Cherokee County, third-seeded Milton pulled another upset as they defeated No. 1 seed Etowah on their home floor. The Lady Eagles had upended No. 2 seed Parkview last week on the road.
