The final hoops rankings are out and, as you might've guessed, the No. 1 teams are all state champs. While the chalk (or favorites) ruled much of the weekend, Norcross pulled off one of the biggest upsets in state finals history by beating goliath Milton in the Class 5A boys final.

In eight semifinal games played on Thursday in Macon and Gwinnett, the winner of each game calls metro Atlanta home. Meanwhile, six teams from outside the metro area saw their seasons come to an end. In Class AA, Buford and GAC flexed their hoops muscles as each school qualified boys and girls teams into the finals.

The second round of the state high school basketball playoffs took place Tuesday on campuses around the state. For the most part, the favorites rolled. However, in Cherokee County, third-seeded Milton pulled another upset as they defeated No. 1 seed Etowah on their home floor. The Lady Eagles had upended No. 2 seed Parkview last week on the road.

A textile plant set to open in Tifton will create 120 jobs. Pennsylvania-based American Textile Company will make bed pillows at the south Georgia facility. It’s set to open in Spring 2011. The company plans to hire 50 workers right away.
