Thomas County Central had an uncharacteristic season in 2011. The Jackets lost five games for the first time since 2004 and finished fourth in Region 1-AAAA.

West Forsyth upended Hillgrove 40-28 after scoring 26 unanswered points in the third quarter. Hillgrove star running back Kenyan Drake was held to 19 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. Drake also had five receptions for 44 yards and two scores as well as a kickoff return for a touchdown..

In an interesting South Georgia tilt tonight, Class AAAAA power Lowndes will host Class AAA No. 5 Burke County. The two squads played early last season when the Vikings romped 36-0.

Fresh off winning a defensive player of the year award at a Thomas County Central (GA) awards banquet, Ray Drew appeared on Score Atlanta’s The Official Visit to discuss the recruiting process, which will end for him this Friday. Drew was recently passed by Monroe Area defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt as the top player in the state of Georgia according to one recruiting service, but the rankings don’t mean much to Drew.
