The cost to use interstate toll roads in metro Atlanta, which has been steadily rising in recent months, has hit a new record. WSB-TV reports that motorists during Friday morning's rush hour paid a record $6.35 to use the lanes.

The State Road and Tollway Authority Thursday approved plans to drop the price to drive in toll lanes on Interstate 85 to a little as one penny per mile.

State officials on Friday voted to continue the toll charge on metro Atlanta's Georgia 400 until 2020. The decision came after a meeting of the State Road and Tollway Authority, of which Governor Sonny Perdue chairs.
