The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame will stay in Macon for at least the next three years under a lease agreement expected to be filed Tuesday in Bibb County. The paperwork was not immediately available, but Ben Sapp, the museum's interim director, said Gov. Nathan Deal has signed off on the agreement.
The Georgia State Properties Commission has approved a lease agreement with the Development Authority of Bibb County that will keep the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame open in Macon for the next year, with an option for two additional one-year contracts.
Macon Sunday released details of its bid to try to keep the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in the middle Georgia city. The state’s Legislature has said it will stop funding both the Music and Sports halls, both of which are in Macon.
