Five years ago this week, much of North Georgia and parts of metro Atlanta were covered with several feet of water. Governor Sunny Perdue declared 23 counties disaster areas, declaring states of emergency in 17 of those counties. Perhaps hardest hit was Clarkdale Elementary School in Austell. Jay Dillon recalls the floods ripping through the school like a saw.

The Georgia Supreme Court has ruled that former Gov. Sonny Perdue did not have the authority to remove members of the Warren County school board two years ago. The state's highest court ruled Monday that Clara Roberts, Cecil Brown and Charles Culver should not have been ousted.

Former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue said he's joining the leadership team for the presidential campaign of Tim Pawlenty. Perdue had been a national co-chairman for fellow Georgian Newt Gingrich. Meanwhile, Gingrich said he’s staying in the race despite a mass exodus of his top campaign staffers.

Former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue says he'll back Newt Gingrich if he seeks the Republican nomination for president. Appearing at a Georgia Republican dinner Monday night, Perdue told reporters that the former U.S. House speaker "would make a great president."
