Mitsubishi Power is marking the end of one phase of construction and the beginning of another at its plant near Savannah. Officials with the Japanese heavy equipment maker say, they expect to begin work soon at their electrical turbine manufacturing facility in Pooler. The company will dedicate the plant, expected to employ 200 by the end of next year.
A new business task force in Savannah will focus on expanding the city's reach to overseas companies. Savannah has named 19 people to the Greater Savannah International Alliance, including Brynn Grant of the Savannah Economic Development Authority. She says, a lot of new business in the US right now actually is coming from abroad.
Savannah business officials say, there's nothing to know yet about a potential economic development project near the Savannah airport. Airport officials recently approved moving a new runway and studying traffic for what in the public record is called simply a quote "potential new development." That hasn't stopped some from speculating about a big new employer.
