The first round of the Georgia high school basketball playoffs is halfway done after a rousing night of action on Friday. In Class 5A, Norcross lost its first game of the season and was replaced by Hillgrove at the top. The Lady Blue Devils defeated defending Alabama 6A state champion Hoover in an interesting matchup of the two states' reigning stte champs. But Norcross fell on Tuesday to North Gwinnett, which caused their fall in the rankings this week.

Redan took over the No. 1 spot in Class 4A after SW DeKalb and Madison County lost games this past week. In Class 5A, Bradwell Institute is now ranked No. 9, while in Class 3A, Sandy Creek and Grovetown debuted.
