Georgia’s high school sports teams now know who they will have to beat to advance to the playoffs starting next fall. The nearly year-long process of revising high school sports classifications is nearing completion now that the Georgia High School Association has unveiled new regional breakdowns.

The issue of physical activity in dangerously hot weather is back in the spotlight after the deaths of two Georgia high school football players. Locust Grove player Forrest Jones and Fitzgerald's DJ Searcy both died on Tuesday. The deaths come as teams statewide start practices in dangerously hot weather.

The organization overseeing Georgia high school sports is more sharply defining its policies on head injuries for athletes. One change will allow football referees more leeway in making the call to pull a player from a game.
