    A State Senator from the Georgia coast on Monday announced plans to follow Jack Kingston into the U-S House. Buddy Carter of Pooler says he has the name recognition to get past what could become a crowded field of Republican candidates to run in the GOP-leaning 1st Congressional District. Kingston last week announced he's running for the US Senate, making his seat open for the first time in 20 years.

    Officials in Savannah's Chatham County hope a mediator will resolve negotiations over how to split up a local sales tax. The county and its seven municipalities have until August 12th to agree on a formula to split up its 1% Local Option Sales Tax. At issue is about $600 million in potential tax revenue.

Officials with the Japanese heavy equipment maker say, they expect to begin work soon at their electrical turbine manufacturing facility in Pooler. The company will dedicate the plant, expected to employ 200 by the end of next year.
